My name is Peter Foldvari I am lecturer of economics at the Amsterdam School of Economics, University of Amsterdam (UvA), where I teach Principlies of Economics, and various econometrics courses. Besides I am lecturer and course coordinator of the courses Economics, Markets and Organisations I and Intermediate Macroeconomics at the PPLE College, an interdisciplinary honours college of the UvA.


Until 2018 I worked for the HINDI project at the International Institute of Social History where I wasresponsible for the economic and econometric models. I also taught two tutorial groups of the Empirical Economics course at Utrecht School of Economics in 2015. In the spring of 2016 and 2017 I taught introductory economics and  International Monetary Relations at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen.  Between 2012 and 2015 I worked  as post-doc researcher at the Department of History and Art History at Utrecht University (the Netherlands).  My main  responsibilities were the Institutions Hub and I was involved in the Human Capital Hub of the CLIO-INFRA project, both hosted at the Centre for Global Economic History at Utrecht University.

Before June 2012 I held the position of associate professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the University of Debrecen in Hungary, where I taught courses in econometrics, economic history and economic development at under- and postgraduate levels.

 

I graduated in history from University of Debrecen in 2000 and in economics from the College of Szolnok in 2001. I was an international PhD student at the Research Institute for History and Culture and later at the Utrecht School of Economics. I defended my PhD thesis in economics in March 2006 at Utrecht University under the supervision of Rob Alessie, Jan Luiten van Zanden and Richard Nahuis. In 2020 I graduated in MSc Econometrics with an average of 8.5/10 from the University of Amsterdam. Econometrics have become my main field of interest.

 

My research interests include the measurement of human capital, the  economics of education, economic modelling of historical processes, empirical analysis, treatment of endogeneity in regression analysis and impact evaluation.
